Publication of New DOE Electronic Corpus

posted on December 9, 2024

We are pleased to announce the publication of the new version of the Dictionary of Old English Electronic Corpus. This version of the Corpus features improved search functions, reflects all corrections made since the release of the 2009 version, and incorporates newer editions of many Old English works, especially charters. Users on campus at subscribed institutions may access the Corpus at its new URL: https://corpus.doe.utoronto.ca; off-campus users should use the link in their library’s catalogue to access the site. (Users with individual subscriptions will receive an email from us soon regarding our ongoing efforts to restore their access to the Corpus.)

On-campus users at subscribed institutions who enter the new URL should be able to access the Corpus right away. However, because of the URL change, some off-campus users may not be able to access the new site until their institutions’ library catalogues and/or proxy configurations have been updated. We are notifying the contact people on file for all institutional subscribers and requesting that any necessary updates be made as soon as possible. If you are at a subscribed institution and are still having difficulty accessing the Corpus, feel free to contact us with a description of the problem, but please note that, depending on how much troubleshooting we need to do, it may take us some time to respond to all inquiries.

Now that the Dictionary and Corpus are both back online, we will begin to extend current subscription periods to compensate our subscribers for this year’s outage. Dictionary subscriptions will be extended by three months, and Corpus subscriptions by seven months. We are also working on restoring subscribing institutions’ access to usage statistics.
